Black Friday dates back to the 1950’s and 60’s when the term was used by the Philadelphia police to describe the chaos caused by the post-Thanksgiving retail event that overtook the city each year as shoppers hunted down the best bargains. The traffic jams and the tumult in towns and cities across the country led to the widespread adoption of the term Black Friday across the USA.
It wasn’t until 2010 that Black Friday really took a hold at a worldwide level, and it is now widely known as a huge opportunity to find black friday deals and offers across many brands and retailers.
Cyber Monday is always the following Monday and has also become one of the biggest online shopping days of the year.
Black Friday 2018 will fall on Friday 23 November, the day after the USA celebrates Thanksgiving.
