If you believe your wetsuit to be faulty please refer to the returns policy online at https://www.speedo.com/international/en/delivery-returns.html
Speedo has designed their wetsuits with optimal coverage and performance in mind. Altering the wetsuit will invalidate the products warrantee and can also affect the performance of the garment.
No, please refer to the aftercare instructions below.
Rinse the suit separately in cold water as soon after use as possible. Hang on wide hanger to allow the suit to fully air dry.
Do not hang in direct sunlight.
Do not leave in hot car.
Do not bleach or detergent.
Do not machine wash, dry clean or iron.
All Speedo suits come with a name strip inside the suit.
A permanent, soft tipped marker can be used to write your name inside, however we advise against using thin tipped pens, which can scratch or tear the surface of the neoprene, and/or petroleum based ink to write on the suit.
Chlorine will advance the degradation and shorten the lifespan of a wetsuit. Speedo does not recommend wearing wetsuits while swimming in chlorinated pools.
Yes and No. The Event and Comp suits and their versions, have a regular zip construction that just needs to be pulled up the body to close the zip. The wearer should ensure they gather as much fabric/neoprene up the body to allow the zip to be easily pulled, otherwise it is difficult to pull the zip closed.
On the Elite suit it has a reverse zip construction, so needs to be fed from the top of the suit and closed by pulling down. This would need another person to help attach the zip to start the closing mechanism.
The scratches will not affect the UV protection as this is something that is inherent in the material.
Some swimming pools have banned or discouraged the use of snorkels during public swimming sessions, this decision is down to their own policy. We assume customers are still able to use this equipment during allotted training session swims when the pool is closed to general use. We would advise to contact your nearest swimming pool directly to get some more information.
It depends on the sovereign decision of the French pools – each of them can decide if they allow or forbid specific swimwear.
No. This can damage not only the wetsuits neoprene but also damage the tumble dryer. To dry the wetsuit lay flat on a dry surface or fold loosely or over a drying rack in a well ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
You can urinate in a wetsuit so long as the wetsuit is rinsed after use. Please refer to the proper aftercare instructions.
Racing goggles reduce drag, improve performance. They are generally of a higher value than the training goggles because of the technology/research involved in their production.
Training goggles are generally more comfortable but are specifically designed for training.

Catalogues for wetsuits/ Triathlon and Multisports range can be found here: https://www.speedo.com/wetsuits-and-trisuits.list
We don't offer to customise/personnalise your products.
The design, specification and placement of our labels, logos and badges has been carefully developed by Speedo to complement the technology and manufacturing processes of the Fastskin LZR product range.
For fully bonded garments, all logo's badges and labels are applied by heat transfer. This process is controlled to ensure that the bonded seams are unaffected by the heat and seam strength maintained. The design, specification and placement of all labels, logos and badges for all Fastskin products also conforms to the FINA guidelines.
Speedo advise all partners to avoid any thirsd party handling of its products as for the aforementioned reasons Speedo and it's vendors will take no liability for product failures on products which have been handled by third parties for the purpose of applying additional labels, logos or badges.
You don't need to size down to achieve good compression, the Fastskin LZR Racer X already has high levels of compression in the legs, so please refer to the size guide.
The size of your suit should be determined from the measurements advised in the size guides. The hip measurement is the most important measure to take, since the LZR Racer CompreX fabric limits the amount of stretch in the suit, and therefore how wide it will go over the hips.
The Speedo Prescription Optical goggles come in tinted lenses only.
Yes. All our Sculpture suits are designed and cut to shape and flatter the bust. Contoured stretch seams under the bust or secret support liners shaped to the bust ensure a great fit, security and support. The cut of these features flatter the bust delivering a natural shaping effect.
Our goggles do not contain any PVC and therefore should not have any phthalates or bisphenol A as these are building blocks of PVC. However, we cannot guarantee as there may be some very small traces or contamination.
Here is the maternity suit we have in our current range online: Essential U-Back Maternity Swimsuit.
We have high waited jammers in our Fastskin range only.
We do not currently manufacture any allergy free swimsuits. We have swimsuits made from our Endurance+ which is free of elastane, however we are unable to guarantee that there is no latex in the garment as it may be part of the tape composition which is sewn into the legs/arms/neck.
We do not have a specific range of swimsuits for the taller individual unfortunately.
This is a range we hope to produce in the future but in the meantime, we would recommend swimsuits with the adjustable straps or tankinis.
Traditionally most wetsuits for Triathlon have zips at the back. This is the common format for triathlon suits, to reduce hydrodynamic drag.
Some multi-sport brands may have wetsuits with zips at the front, but all Speedo wetsuits have a back zip.
Depending on the optical strength you require, we would recommend either a goggle that features two optical lenses with the same strength for both of your eyes (Optical range) or our Pulse Optical Goggles kit that will enable you to choose two lenses in different strengths to self-assemble the optical goggles that will suit your eyesight perfectly.
The measurement required to choose which type of goggle you need is the diopter. We currently only sell prescription goggles in a diopter of -1.5 to -8. We do not sell prescription goggles in + diopters.
On our website, the diopter is shown as the "size" of the goggle.
For example, a swimmer with the diopter measurements of -1,5 in both eyes will choose any single-strength goggle in -1,5 from our Optical range.
However, a swimmer with -1,5 diopter in one eye and -3 in the other will choose the Pulse Optical Prescription Lenses (sold by the unit) which enable you to select two single lenses in the "size" you require. These lenses are interchangeable and will fit either side of the goggle. Please be advised that it is necessary to order the Pulse Optical Goggle Kit at the same time so that you can create your own goggle set with the appropriate nosebridge and strap.
Unfortunately, the diopter is the only prescription measurement in our goggles. More specific values for eg. astigmatism or cylinder have not been included in the manufacturing of the lenses. If you are unsure of the prescription strength you require, please contact your optician who will also be able to advise regarding an optical goggle tailored to your needs.
All our products and associated packaging do not contain any of the restricted substances listed in the Pentland Restricted Substances Requirements and Guidelines (available on www.pentland.com or on request).
We aim to ensure that customers, workers and the environment are not exposed to harmful chemicals in the manufacture or use of our products. Compliance with our restricted substances policy is a condition of business with our suppliers, which means that each of our suppliers has agreed to comply with all relevant legal requirements relating to restricted substances when manufacturing our products, including EU regulations for substances under REACH Annex XVII and REACH Annex XIV.
If sun protection/sunscreen is applied correctly this will not damage a wetsuit.
Sunscreen should be applied and completely absorbed into the users skin before wetsuit use, to ensure there is very little residual sunscreen on the skin or wetsuit.
As with all swimwear, the Fastskin LZR Racer suits may look marginally different when wet.
However, the dark colours will act to minimise any difference. The ‘silvering’ effect caused by the increased durability of the water repellency means it will stay ‘silvered’ for longer.
The material looks more ‘sheer’ due to the new coloured fabric, but has been designed to keep all modesty covered.
There will be a slight colour change when this suit is wet, from the “silvering” effect of the water, which beads on the water repellent coating.
Yes, the Fastskin caps and goggles have been designed to fit together and if the strap does not sit under the cap the rest of the goggle will not fit optimally.
If you place any goggle strap onto the outside of the cap it will create drag.
The fixed leg length is where we do not offer different leg lengths and as it is a standard length that comes with the waist size.
Inside leg length is the standard way of measuring so if you have the option of choosing different leg lengths on the product then you will need to look at these measurements.
The full wetsuits will have a greater surface area of neoprene material to provide a greater buoyancy for the wearer and reduce drag.
The sleeveless and short suits will be worn when the wearer desires a fit that allows more freedom movement.

A correct fitting suit will eliminate most of the possible issues that create chafing.
However sensitive areas of the body, such as the neck and under the arms, can be protected by applying a non-petroleum based lubricant, such as Bodyglide, to these areas of contact.
We don't recommend trying to repair a broken zip as it might damage the neoprene. If you believe your suit zip is faulty, please refer to our returns policy.
We use clever visual detailing using colour and print placement to draw the eye to areas we want to enhance and all over prints or darker areas to visually smooth and distract from imperfections. Seaming and panelling create an hourglass silhouette. Neckline shapes are used to balance hips or slim the upper body.
Creora HighClo is similar to our Endurance10 material and is 10 times more resistant to chlorine than normal nylon elastane. Therefore, our Endurance+ material is more chlorine resistant, with 100% chlorine resistance.
The LZR Racer X and LZR Racer Elite 2 are both highly technical racing suits, using industry leading water repellency, bonded seams, and compressive but flexible fabric.
The main difference between the LZR Racer X and LZR Elite 2 is the fabric and the amount of compression within each suit.
The LZR Racer X has been developed to have greater compression in the legs of the suit using a one way stretch fabric called LZR Racer CompreX, to help with performance, body position and drag.
The LZR Elite 2 does have compressive fabric which is not as compressive as the LZR Racer X, but provides great flexibility and comfort.
Fastskin LZR Racer Elite 2 Jammers feature a low (standard) height waistband, identical to the original LZR Racer Elite.
For both the High Waist Jammer and regular Jammer, the waistband must sit below the navel (belly button). The height of the waistband will vary from swimmer to swimmer, however the X that crosses at the top of the leg on the suit should sit directly above the Greater Trochanter (hip bone). If this is done correctly then the suit should be at the correct height, presuming all wrinkles have been removed and the suit feels comfortable.
Speedo provides a two-year limited factory warranty on the triathlon range covering manufacture & materials from date of purchase from an authorized Speedo dealer.
We advise customers to follow the product’s care & maintenance instructions found on the packaging.
Continuous exposure to chlorine, salt water, and sunlight will shorten the life of this suit and damage as a result of this will not be covered by Speedo.
Fingernail tears, tears, damage caused from misuse, obvious stress marks, abuse or damage sustained through the normal wear and tear will not be covered by warranty.
Damage caused by use of petroleum-based products will not be covered by Speedo.
A triathlon suit should balance a secure enough fit, to reduce the amount of water entering the suit, with comfort and range of movement, to allow the swimmer to have the correct stroke technique. Your triathlon suit should not restrict breathing, nor should it allow excess water to enter. Please refer to the size guides for reference.
For a comfortable watertight seal with a flexible notched nose bridge goggle, adjust 1 notch at a time, together or further apart. When happy with the fit you may remove excess nose piece with scissors.
For other goggle types such as Fastskin, adjustment is either not necessary or a selection of nose bridges will be supplied to gain correct fit.
Please see our video How to fit my goggles correctly? on YouTube for further advise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uV1LqcS4J8
To adjust the strap on your Futura Biofuse Goggles, hold the lens in your left hand resting your thumb on the goggle clip, press down with your thumb on the button (the raised rubber piece on the goggle clip).
Then with your right hand gently pull the strap through the goggle clip, all the time keeping your thump pressed down on the button.
Repeat this on the other side of the goggle to evenly adjust the straps.
To preserve the life of your goggles and keep them in good condition we recommend you follow these rules:
- Spend a minute cleaning the lenses after every swim.
- By gently washing them in lukewarm water you can remove any chlorine or harmful chemicals that will shorten their lifespan.
- Don’t ever use soap or detergent though as they are a natural enemy of the anti-fog coating.
- After washing, leave your goggles to air-dry in a flat position. If they are left wet in your kit bag they’ll most likely grow bacteria and mould.
- Do not leave goggles in the direct sunlight for prolonged periods, this may affect the durability of the straps.
Our care instructions are also available on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uV1LqcS4J8
Please see the video called Speedo Fastskin Prime Assembly Video on YouTube.
Fastskin Prime is a fully customisable goggle. The Fastskin Prime goggle pack offers all of the elements required to produce up to 16 different colours combinations.
Each pack contains: 1x Lens, 2x Frames, 2x Straps, 2x Strap Tensioners, 2x Nose Bridges
Fastskin Prime uses the advanced technology IQFit, to ensure a leak free secure fit, and a hydrodynamic design profile for maximum speed through the water.
We recommend that when trying a pair of goggles on you follow the instructions below.
1- Open eyes wide
2- Place goggles over eyes without securing the strap
3- Relax face and release hold
If the goggles stay in place for a few seconds you have the correct size; if not then the goggles are too big.
OR
1- Position goggles into the eye sockets to determine if the goggles are comfortable. You should feel a slight suction.
2- Stretch head strap over back of the head to rest at a 45 degree angle on the crown of the head. Adjust strap so goggles are a firm fit. Tightening straps does not always prevent water leaking.
3- Ensure the nose bridge is adjusted correctly. Hedgehog nose bridges and individual size nose bridges are ideal for difficult to fit faces i.e. large noses, wide faces, high nose bridge.
The nose clip should rest on the bridge of your nose and the plastic part of the clip should press firmly on your nostril to create a tight seal.
Hold the cylindrical part of the plug and insert the ear plug into the ear.
Push into the ear canal and rotate until you feel a secure fit.
There is not a designated top or bottom orientation of the ear plug, as ear shapes can vary.
When done swimming, pull on the cylindrical portion to remove the ear plug.
Rinse in fresh water and store in the care box.
Please see our video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHPc78PgCaQ
The LZR Racer X is designed and developed to have high compression in targeted areas of the body. It will take a little longer to get on than any other racing suit.
1) You can get in to the suit in the normal way turning the leg hems up. You will notice the high compression as soon as you step into the suit for the first time.
2) Keep working the leg fabric bit by bit slowly moving both legs up evenly, this is the hardest part due to high levels of compression.
3) When the suit is over the hips , start to pull the suit up and into position the hip join seam on the suit should fit on your GREATER TROCHANTHER your hip point.
4) Continue to pull the suit up into the correct position for you, if you feel like you don’t have all the fabric or suit in the right place, try pulling the fabric up from the bottom of the legs the high levels of compression sometimes means fabric sticks at the bottom of the legs that just needs adjusting.
Please see our video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9L-gkRhoq0
The Fastskin LZR Racer X uses a highly compressive but flexible fabric called the LZR CompreX, which has one way stretch. The suit will feel tight and compressive. As long as the size guidelines have been met, using hips measurement as the key indicator of the correct size, then the suit should perform correctly.
Fastskin LZR Racer X is designed and developed to have high compression in targeted areas of the body. Please be advised that it will take a little longer to get on than your current racing suit.
Please see below guidelines of how to fit the new LZR X suit:
1- You can get in to the suit in the normal way by turning the leg hems up. You will notice the high compression as soon as you step into the suit for the first time.
2- Keep working the leg fabric up bit by bit, slowly moving both legs up evenly try not to pull on the upper body part of the suit until the lower part of the suit with high compression is over your hips. This is the hardest part due to high levels of compression.
3- When the suit is over the hips, start to pull the suit up and into position, the hip join seams on the suit should fit on your Greater Trochanther your hip point.
Greater Trochanther : The circle in the middle of the hip fit point marker sits directly over the greater trochanter. This is a lump of bone at the top of the femur which is level with the joint in your hip. It can be felt as the first bone protrusion on the outside of the leg as you work up towards the hip joint. It is roughly in line with the height of the crotch and can be felt as a golf ball sized hard lump on the outside of the leg.
4 - Pull the upper body part of the suit up gently. We recommend you hold on to the seams and not pull at the sides of the suit fabric on the upper body. Work the suit up fully.
Please note that on the closed back the X seam should fit in the middle of the back.
5- Put the shoulder straps on and re-position the suit into the correct place & adjust so comfortable for you. Please be advised that you may need help to get the straps on for the first time.
6 - Continue to pull the suit up into the correct position for you if you feel like you don't have all the fabric in the right place try pulling the fabric up from the bottom of the legs.
The high level of compression sometimes means fabric sticks at the bottom of the legs that just needs adjusting.
The Fastskin LZR Racer X fabric should allow enough flexibility and freedom of movement to prevent major issues with fit and comfort. However if it is too tight then we would recommend going up another size.
With the kneeskin, the support seams that meet at the top of the leg should align to the greater trochanter (the hip bone). On the Closedback kneeskins, the X at the rear of the suit should sit in the small of the back at the centre.
With the Jammers, the support seams that meet at the top of the leg should align to the greater trochanter (the hip bone).
The Fastskin cap is designed to fit over the small tab at the top of the Fastskin Elite goggle. The cap should not cover the main body of the goggle, only this flat tab.
If it does cover the main body of the goggle, it can cause pressure on the inner seal and occasionally cause the seal to leak. If this happens, we recommend trying a higher placement of the cap in relation to the goggle tabs.
Misting or fogging on the lens of a swimming goggle is caused by the difference in temperature between the cold water and the warm skin and eyeball of the swimmer. This temperature difference causes the water to condense on the inside of the goggle lens causing water droplets to form and restrict the visibility of the swimmer.
The first step to achieving a fog free swim is to check your current goggles. In some cases where goggles are used on a very regular basis the goggles can out live the anti-fog coating. If you’ve had your goggles for a long time and they have been well used it might be time to consider investing in a new pair if you are having fogging problems.
There are two types of anti-fog coatings that we use at Speedo, anti-fog and anti-fog ultra. These coatings work by making it a lot harder for condensation to stick to the lenses.
- Polycarbonate lenses (hard lenses that don’t bend at all, often the choice of competitive swimmers such as our IQfit range) anti-fog is sprayed on the inside of the lens.
- Cellulose Acetate lenses (slightly flexible lenses designed for comfort such as our Biofuse range) are impregnated with an anti-fog ultra solution in the manufacturing process, as this is impregnated and not coated it will not wear away.
In order to maintain your goggles it’s important to clean your lenses after every swim, and keep them safe in a pouch to avoid any scratching or rubbing. To clean the lenses gently wash them after every swim with luke warm water to remove any chlorine and other harmful chemicals. Leave the goggles air dry in a flat position and try to avoid rubbing the lenses or touching them, as this may start to remove the anti-fog coating.
If you look after your goggles from day one you will be able to preserve the anti-fog coating for a lot longer. Ensure your goggles are fitted correctly to your face and adjusted accordingly; this will help to stop any leakages.
To help you make the right choice when purchasing new goggles all Speedo goggles feature the anti-fog and anti-fog ultra logos. Always read your goggle instructions to ensure you’re taking the right pre-cautions for the different types of anti-fog to preserve the coating – after all, they are a really important part of your kit!
The Fastskin LZR Racer X uses a highly compressive fabric called LZR Racer CompreX, which has one way stretch only. This will feel tight and compressive. As long as the size guidelines have been met, using hip measurement as the key indicator of the correct size, then the suit should perform correctly. In some instances however, a swimmer may choose to go up a size, to retain more comfort.
A wetsuit should fit in such a way to limit the amount of water being accumulated within the suit.
Some water entry is inevitable, but the fit should ensure that the overall bodyweight and volume of the wetsuit is not compromised.
Yes, the Fastskin Racer X racing suits are FINA approved from January 2015.
Sizing has been designed to ensure a smooth transition from the LZR Elite 2 and LZR Racer X. Most swimmers will find that they can use the same in both the LZR Elite 2 and LZR X, however with the increased compression in LZR X a swimmer may have to go up a size. Please refer to the size guide when choosing your suit.

The only Speedo which does not include any silicone is the Sea Squad Infant Mask, all other goggles in the current Speedo range are manufactured using Silicone. Therefore you need to be very careful if you have an allergy to Silicone as it is used extensively across the Speedo Goggle range.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that any of our goggles are 100% Silicone free at the point of purchase due to potential contamination which is out of our control, no matter how unlikely this might be.
Neoprene Allergies
The only Speedo goggle which contains neoprene is the Biofuse Sea Squad Mask - the strap is made of neoprene. All other goggles in our current range do not contain neoprene.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that it is 100% free of neoprene for legal reasons (contamination out of our control etc.)
GENERAL ALLERGY ADVICE - Please note we cannot guarantee that any of our goggles completely prevent any allergic reactions due to potential contamination which is out of our control, no matter how unlikely this might be.
Speedo has products to cover 3 stages of Learn to Swim.
Stage 1 products are designed to get the child used to the water.
Stage 2 products encourage the child to start swimming
Stage 3 is all about getting more confident in the water.
You may have noticed that we've changed the packaging our goggles come in; replacing a cardboard box with a plastic case.
We've had a lot of negative feedback that the cardboard packaging was easily damaged both in store and in transit resulting in damaged products. So, we have introduced two new packaging solutions which are recyclable and improve the protection of the product.
Our premium goggles are now available in a robust plastic storage case to protect your goggles from scratches and scuffs when they're at the bottom of your swim bag, helping to make them last as long as possible.
Our regular goggles have fully recyclable lightweight packaging, which is made from 50% recycled plastic. (We use recycled plastic drinks bottles in this packaging.)
Some people may be questioning why we need packaging for our goggles at all, which is a good question to ask. If our goggles are not protected properly the lenses can become scratched and the seal around the lenses warped and misshapen. This would dramatically affect the fit and even the performance of the goggle.
Now we know what you might be thinking – not more plastic!
The plastic we are using is partly made up of recycled plastic and we are working on getting to 100% recycled plastic. This is because we believe in improving the contribution to the plastic's circular economy - it's better to use the waste plastic that is already here.
One of our aims is to reduce our use of single-use plastics, which is why our new premium packaging can be retained and used as a protective carry case to increase the lifetime of the goggles themselves.
“But what if people don't want to use it as a case and throw it away?” – we hear you.
The plastic storage case for our premium goggles can easily be separated into parts; the bit inside (we call it a fitment, basically the bit your goggles sit on) is the same type of plastic as a yogurt pot and the fitment is partly made from recycled plastics. The solid case is not currently recyclable but we are making a quick change to enable the black part to be recycled. In future, it will be grey which recycling plants can process. Unfortunately we don't have a recycling solution for the clear part of the case, but we are working on it for the future.
The packaging for our regular goggles is made from a higher percentage of recycled plastics and is the same type of plastic as a water bottle, meaning both can be added to your doorstep recycling bins and be recycled.
Try rubbing together & gently separating in warm water. Once opened, leave to dry out and add some talc to stop them sticking together again.
These socks are not designed for outdoor use and should be used mainly in & around the pool area.
There is a care leaflet attached.
Freestyle – Power Paddles for maximum resistance in the water and therefore great for an upper body workout. Finger paddles will work more on technique, particularly the catch phase in freestyle
Breast stroke – A tech paddle would provide a slightly better surface as the design is more ergonomically constructed for the hand. A power paddle might catch an edge through the stroke in breastroke.
Back stroke – Again for maximum resistance, Power Paddles would work best.
If the customer is after one paddle for all strokes, We would recommend the tech paddle. This provides the resistance of the power paddle and the contoured shape to move through the water more smoothly than a power paddle.
The Aqua Gloves are made from neoprene and are therefore very porous and not great for applying force through the water. They are therefore not great for swimming as a training aid as they will take on some water too. We would recommend these are used for aqua aerobics type activities, in which they can provide moderate resistance.
Speedo has not conducted any specific testing on how the elastics we use for our swimwear behave in salt water.
However, it is known that saltwater can break down elastane just like chlorine can.
We would advise the following care instructions for saltwater swimmers:
- Always rinse thoroughly after every swim. And then wash on a gentle washing machine cycle, or hand wash, after around every 5-10 uses.
- Sunbathe before swimming rather than after – if you swim in saltwater or chlorinated water, and then let it bake into the garment by sunbathing, this can cause damage much faster.
- It can be best to take two pairs on holiday and use alternately. It is best to give your suit a good thorough rinse after use and then let it have a break for 24hrs and use a different one the next day. Both items of swimwear together should last longer.
- Suncream and oils can also damage elastane so be careful when applying. If you do get suncream on the fabric then wash thoroughly as soon as possible.
Please be aware that the salinity of salt water varies globally – for example, in the Mediterranean the salinity of the salt water is particularly high. In the waters around the UK or in the Black Sea (for example) it is actually much lower on the surface and will therefore not affect the fabric as much.

Speedo has products to cover 3 stages of Learn to Swim.
Stage 1 products are designed to get the child used to the water.
Stage 2 products encourage the child to start swimming.
Stage 3 is all about getting more confident in the water.
The Speedo Float vest is a stage 2 product and it is not designed to keep the child upright in the water. It is designed to encourage the child to start swimming by placing them in the correct position.
This product has passed the European safety standard for buoyancy aids, EN13138-1 2014. Amongst many other aspects, this testing checks the buoyancy and balance of the vest to ensure the product is safe and it was carried out by an independent testing authority.
The Sea Squad Stages primarily refer to the child ability and confidence in the water, not necessarily their age.
The age ranges which can be found on some of the products refer mainly to the size/weight of the child.
Please see below for the Stage 3 copy which was on the Speedo.com site:
Stage Three - Get Confident. Encourage your little swimmer to advance their swimming skills, with fun challenges that focus on improving their diving, underwater confidence, front crawl and backstroke swimming technique.
Paddle? Pah! Now it's time to get adventurous. This final section will teach your child to develop a confident kick and a strong stroke in the water, and although you still have to supervise them at all times, we'll have them diving down and swimming in a variety of styles. "Now's the time to start developing a swimming technique and get more adventurous underwater," says Olympic medallist, Rebecca Adlington.
Time to get adventurous! Develop your child's swim skills with stage three of our guide.

HAND WASH COLD,
DARK COLOURS SEPARATELY,
DRIP DRY, DO NOT BLEACH, DO NOT IRON,
DO NOT DRY-CLEAN
After use it is best to rinse the wetsuit on the inside under cool water from the shower and then hang in side out in a cool dry place. Never leave in a damp place, room temperature is preferable.
Rinse your suit out with fresh water especially after use in sea water. Salt left to dry on the suit may crystalize causing 'wetsuit rash' and can, over time reduce the stretch factor of the neoprene.
Allow to dry by hanging it in a ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Do not use clothes pegs or narrow hangers as these cause damage. Once dry, turn suit in the right way.
Please be advised that it probably will be okay to wash it 30 degrees in the washing machine inside out but we can't give any guarantee on this.
The LZR Racer X has increased compression around the legs and glutes, to reduce drag, improve a swimmers position in the water and therefore improve performance. It combines this with LZR PulseLite, a flexible fabric used in the upper part of the suit to allow freedom of movement for the swimmers stroke, comfort and breathing.
The LZR X also has ab activators in the Female suits. This unique design (which has a patent pending) uses a laser cutting process to reveal a single layer of fabric in the double core liner. This enhances the sensation of water flow over the abdominals to increase proprioception (sensory awareness) and therefore activation of this muscle group to maintain a better alignment of the body in the water.
In the Male and Female suits, the outer seam tape is placed strategically over key muscle groups and bony positions, to provide a support seam construction (patent pending). This improves the linkage of the bodies muscular kinetic chain, to assist in the alignment of the kick and position in the water to improve performance.
The Female suits also utilise a new strap design, which has lazer cut features (patent pending) that provide the optimum balance between a secure and comfortable fit.
The LZR Racer X has improved high quality finishes, particularly on arm and leg openings on Male and Female suits, and the waistband in Male suits, which enhance comfort and fit.

The frontal lenses size is optimised for foveal vision (sharp central vision of the eye) enabling focus.
The extended goggle side arms move strap connection points further round the head for improved hydrodynamics, while interchangeable nose bridges offer choice for optimum fit.
Designed to last longer, Endurance+® is a 100% chlorine resistant fabric. Every suit created in Endurance+® is quick drying and engineered to retain its shape swim after swim. Endurance+® is exclusive to Speedo.
In addition Endurance+® offers 20 times more fade resistance than conventional swimwear fabrics and improved snag resistance.
IQfit technology has been developed through in-depth research of the human form and it features in various elements of the Speedo Fastskin Racing System to create the optimum racing fit
IQfit is our most advanced goggle technology yet which maximises swimming comfort whilst minimising resistance and drag when moving through the water.
Based on global head scanning data, our IQfit goggles feature our most secure fit yet, with the IQfit Seal, our first true 3D goggle seal. Each individual component contributes incremental gains in efficiency which taken together can make the vital racing difference.
Our unique IQfit Seal hugs the contours of your eyes, without leaving a mark. Our tensioning scale ensures a consistently accurate and secure fit with your goggles, for every swim.
LZR Racer CompreX is a new fabric from Speedo which utilises one way stretch and is used on the legs and glutes of the LZR X. The smart stretch technology combines high muscular compression with freedom of movement.
The Fastskin LZR Racer X is Speedo’s premium tiered racing suit. Offered in 4 silhouettes across Male and Female adult sizes (Openback and Closedback Kneeskin for Female, Jammer and High Waist Jammer for Male) it has been developed with feedback from athletes and coaches from across the world to provide a suit that looks fasts, feels fast and is fast.
Sculpture is a range of swimwear created by Speedo that shapes and smoothes the body to control and enhance feminine curves.
Please visit our dedicated page : https://www.speedo.com/women/sculpture.list
There are a number of benefits of wearing a swim cap. When competing, a swim cap will streamline your head and therefore increase speed. The Speedo range of open water swim caps are SCS (Super Composite Skin) coated, which drastically reduces water resistance. A swim cap can also keep your head warm as well as make you more visible to other swimmers.
After following the correct aftercare instructions it is advised to lay your wetsuit flat or fold loosely over a dry surface. Tightly folding or scrunching up a wetsuit for extended periods can cause the neoprene to crease, as will hanging on a narrow hanger or using clothes pegs.
Do not leave your wetsuit in direct sunlight or wet, in a bag for long periods of time.
Wetsuits contain a lining which can sometimes hamper users putting them on. By placing plastic supermarket bags over the hands and feet, the wearer can step into and slide their arms and legs through the suit, due to less friction. Then carefully gather the material up the body, ensuring your fingernails do not penetrate the soft neoprene, until you get the desired fit. Having somebody assist you in putting on the wetsuit can also help. For reference you can watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zjl-mct-P4.
When dry, the wetsuit can feel slightly uncomfortable. This is normal. Prior to use flush a small amount of water through the wetsuit to gain a more comfortable fit. A non-petroleum based lubricant, such as Bodyglide, can also prevent or ease discomfort in areas prone to chaffing, as well as aid you in taking the suit off.
If wearing a Speedo Elite wetsuit, the asymmetric quick release zipper will assist you in taking off the suit. Firmly pull the zip all the way to the top to “break” the zip from its run.
If wearing a Comp or Event wetsuit, fastening the end of the zipper cord to the bottom of the suit prior to swimming will allow an easy removal. Reach back and pull the zip cord down to the bottom.
For all wetsuits, once the zip is completely separated, peel the suit off the shoulders and roll it inside out. Once the wetsuit is down to your lower legs, carefully step to the side and out of one leg of the wetsuit. Then repeat for the other leg.
Once removed please refer to the aftercare instructions.
Triathlon Suit Sizing:
- To ensure you are measured accurately try to get somebody else to take your measurements.
- Re-measure again to be sure
- Use a flexible tailor’s style tape measure and not a metal version
Mens and Ladies Triathlon Suit :
Chest – With your hands on your hips measure the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape measure snug with the body and parallel with the floor. For an accurate measurement in females, wear a thin top or swim suit to be measured in, and avoid wearing items that may provide a false measurement e.g. padded bras.
Waist – Without altering your breathing, pass the tape and measure around your natural waistline (at your belly button level), making sure not to include any part of clothing in the measurement.
Hips -Measure the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape measure parallel with the floor.
If you measure inaccurately you might end up with the wrong size suit, which can prevent the suit from working to its best. Please check your method of measurement against the size guide above to arrive at the size of the suit you need.
Please note: Neoprene rubber will gradually conform to the wearer’s body shape. Your suit may initially feel tight, but with wear it will provide a more optimal fit due to the high stretch tolerance of the material. However, the suit should not be so tight that it restricts your breathing.
The Body Stability technology, is a framework of bonded or sewn seams and panels, providing targeted support to promote a hydrodynamic, neutral swimming position and return the energy used on starts and turns.
The main feature of dry suits is to seal the body from water. Dry suits are sealed at openings, such as the wrists, ankles and neck, in addition to having a waterproof zip that prevents water from entering the suit. Dry suits can also contain multiple fabrics that are not found in wet suits. However, dry suits do not always provide insulation against cold water.
Wetsuits are close fitting and limit water entering and moving through the suit, but are not completely water tight. The neoprene used in the suit helps to insulate the wearer from the cold water, with the thicker the neoprene the greater the warmth.
Because of the differing features and benefits of each suit, please refer to the manufacturers guidelines for recommended usage.
The silhouette of female triathlon suits differs to male versions to allow for a feminine shape in the bust and hips. Please refer to the size chart for assistance.
Speedo manufactures their range of wetsuits specifically for triathlon.
Traditional wetsuits are generally thicker for added insulation with a tougher outer to cope with the wear and tear. The thicker neoprene is quite restrictive and difficult to remove.
Triathlon wetsuits are designed with both of these attributes but also flexibility, hydrodynamic resistance and ease of removal (in transition).
They are composed of different panels with varying neoprene thickness to ensure maximum flexibility through the shoulders, buoyancy to optimise the body position in the water and thermal protection.
The kinetic chain is a group of muscles and joints linked together that are involved in a complex and/or sequenced movement. A misalignment of one part of the chain can lead to an inefficient or incorrect movement. The support seam construction in the LZR X helps to ensure that this kinetic chain is aligned and moves as efficiently as possible.
We have a very stringent bank of tests that the fabrics must pass, which include lab based tests (chlorine, rubbing, UV light, heat etc) as well as actual user trials.
Fabrics are tested for 40 hours in highly concentrated chlorined water.
In terms of estimated hours, this would be difficult to say as it would depend on the following:
- How many times worn in that period
- How much chlorine is in the pool water
- Which fabric the suits are ie Endurance+, endurance10, Lycra
- The aftercare of the products.
This will depend on the frequency of use, how the wetsuit is used, and its aftercare. Wetsuits can last multiple years with proper care.
Please refer to the aftercare instructions for a guide to looking after your wetsuit.
The Sculpture swimsuits don’t use hot and bulky mesh panels to shape, unlike other shaping swimwear.
The combination of our body shaping fabric and intelligent garment engineering delivers great tummy control.
Our researchers at the Speedo Aqualab® carried out extensive global head scanning, helping us to create goggles that are designed for real world faces. The result is an unparalleled, precision fit.
At the heart of IQfit is our first ever 3D goggle seal. This is designed to fit the contours of your eye to give maximum leak resistance and a secure fit – even during starts and turns.
In addition, we have developed a unique and revolutionary tensioning scale on the strap. This clever design detail quickly helps you to achieve a consistently secure and accurate fit, every time you swim. Much less strap tension is needed, making your goggles even more comfortable.
The fabric is constructed from a mix of Polyamide (a woven nylon) and Elastane. It is then treated with a water repellent finish to reduce drag and weight of the fabric when wet, as well as improve performance and durability.
For Female there are Sizes 20-28 and Male 21-28, with all sizes in between.
Speedo has therefore included size 25, which was previously not included in LZR Elite 2, to fulfil a requirement for swimmers that were in between sizes before.
There is not a longer body option in the size range, since the LZR Racer CompreX fabric has enough one way stretch to allow freedom of movement and flexibility in the legs.
The Fastskin LZR Racer Elite 2 is offered in 4 silhouettes across Male and Female adult sizes:
- Openback and Closedback Kneeskin for Female
- Regular Waist Jammer and High Waist Jammer for Male. The difference between the two is approximately 3cm, depending on size.
The Fastskin LZR Racer X is offered in 4 silhouettes across Male and Female adult sizes:
- Openback and Closedback Kneeskin for Female
- Regular Waist Jammer and High Waist Jammer for Male. The difference between the two is approximately 3cm, depending on size.
When competing in a triathlon it is recommended that you wear a triathlon suit (see the Speedo Triathlon range for reference).
If you are wearing a wetsuit for training you can wear a regular swimsuit under the wetsuit so long as it doesn’t cause any discomfort.
Triathlon suits are specially designed to aid swimming in open water. They employ materials that have low drag, promote buoyancy, that are cut in a way to allow freedom of movement for correct technique, as well as being constructed with panels to promote a more efficient swimming position. A "normal" wetsuit may not have these swimming specific properties, but may be developed to assist use in other activities
It is possible to wear a triathlon suit in warm or cold waters, but it is advisable to alter the thickness of the suit to correspond with the temperature of the water i.e. the warmer the water the thinner the wetsuit. There are no minimal/maximal water temperatures advised for use.
Please refer to the ITU regulations for water temperature guidelines for wetsuit use as it is not always strictly about water temperature, but also the air temperature, the time spent in the water and your own body's temperature tolerance.
We can only recommend use in ambient temperatures, that you feel comfortable swimming in.
Fastskin LZR Racer Elite 2 is 40% more durable in terms of water repellency when compared to the previous LZR Racer Elite.
In addition Fastskin LZR Racer Elite 2 is made from a light weight fabric (for better feel in the water) and will be available in a range of several colours.
The LZR Racer X is the premium tiered suit within Speedo range of racing products.
All of our goggles are durable, we do not call out or claim any to be more durable than others.
The durability of the goggles really comes down to storage and maintenance.
Fastskin Elite goggle and Fastskin Speedsocket 2 goggle are suitable for an intense training regime (i.e up to 9 hours swimming a week), however a item intensily used naturally goes through a lot of wear and tear.
Both Fastskin Speedsocket 2 and Fastskin Elite goggles are predominantly used by our sponsored athletes.
V-Class has a better performing anti-fog, which should not be confused with durability.
We recommend using the Fastskin cap and goggles as they work in harmony with the LZR Racer suits to reduce drag.
It is advisable when wearing a Fastskin cap to wear the goggle strap under the cap in order to further reduce drag.
All our goggles have UV380 protection.
European standards dictate that it must filter at least 95% of the radiation of up to 380nm so this is what all of our goggles adhere to.
The following list outlines the Speedo Goggles which do not contain paraphenyldiamine:
Aquapulse
AquaPulse Max family
Aquapure family
Fastskin family (elite, Prime)
Futura Biofuse
Futura classic family
FuturaPlus family
Jet
Mariner family
Merit

The size of the paddle (S, M, L ) is important regarding the use of the paddle, not the size of the hands.
All sizes will fit all hands:
Small = frequent use, fitness swimming
Medium/Large = higher impact training and workout
All our wetsuits are designed to be used in openwater swims between the ITU guidelines for water temperature.
Please see the ITU guidelines here - https://www.triathlon.org/uploads/docs/itusport_competition-rules_december20141.pdf
We have a variety of neoprene thicknesses, so this can effect the thermal properties of the suits, with the Thinswim wetsuit having thinner neoprene and therefore less insulation, to the Event wetsuit which has thicker neoprene and therefore more insulation.
If you are looking for the closest sensation to free swimming, we recommend the Elite suit, as this has the most flexible neoprene, particularly around the shoulders, to allow freedom of movement.
Speedo has a long history of developing the world’s leading racing suits, and the LZR Racer X is the latest in the line of these.
Developed from feedback from elite coaches and athletes, the LZR Racer X combines high compression with freedom of movement.
We have upgraded the packaging for our range of goggles from 2019 which offers a more effective solution for consumers and retailers alike and ensures we are minimizing our waste.
Our premium goggles range is now available in a new, robust plastic shell. This is designed to be retained as a carry case to protect your goggles from scratches and scuffs over the lifetime of the product.
Our regular goggles range also has lightweight packaging which is also durable enough to be retained as a protective carry case and is made from 50% recycled plastic.
Both packaging options are 100% recyclable, in-line with Speedo’s aim to reduce the use of single-use plastics.
It is usual to see linings in Red and Pink toned garments due to the colour tone against the body. All the styles are wet tested and the result was to front line the Red suit of the medalist, not the blue.
