Golden evening in Glasgow for team Speedo

It was a golden evening in Glasgow on day one of the XX Commonwealth Games for Team Speedo.

Emma McKeon (AUS) had a very busy session winning gold in the Women’s 200m Freestyle lowering the Commonwealth Games record she posted in the heats and also breaking the Oceania record tonight. Team mate Bronte Barratt won the bronze medal, with Lauren Boyle (New Zealand) coming home in fourth position and South African Karin Prinsloo eighth.


The Men’s 400m Freestyle was won by Ryan Cochrane (CAN), defending the title he won in Delhi four years ago and breaking his own Canadian record which has stood for six years. David McKeon (AUS) followed him home for the silver medal with James Guy (ENG) taking the bronze, breaking his English and British records in the process also. Mack Horton (AUS) finished fourth in his debut senior competition, giving Speedo athletes the top four spots in the final.
