“It’s starting to feel as though the wedding day is getting really close. I want to be at my peak fitness for the honeymoon where we’ll be scuba diving and swimming in the sea, and also to look amazing in my wedding dress. It’s important to me to be fit enough to enjoy it all.”

“I want to be at my peak fitness so I feel strong and confident in the water”

Today has been a great day, I’m feeling confident and fit. Yesterday, not so much, but knowing that I had my dress fitting today gave me the push to get out of the house. Since getting engaged nine months ago, I’ve been doing cardio sessions four times a week, with a bit of pilates to strengthen my core and stretch out. So far, so good. I’m enjoying sessions in the gym, running outside and swimming at my local pool; mixing up the sports makes sure I never feel bored.

The wedding has really pushed me to get back in the water and this time I’m taking it more seriously – no more splashing around, it’s a proper workout. I’ve always found that swimming gives me brilliant physical results, but I also feel it helps relax my muscles and gives me a clear head – just what I need for the wedding planning.

SWIM TRAINING PLAN

I’ve been following Speedo’s #Make1KWet training programme (link here) for a couple of weeks now and am nearly at the 1km swim. After I reach the 1km, I’ll be pushing myself to improve my times. I can already notice the difference in my energy levels; there’s definitely a bounce in my step and my clothes are feeling looser. The plan structure works perfectly for me as I find it really motivating to have something to work towards. I’m persuading my fiancé, Matt, to try it out as well so we can encourage each other.

I’m so glad I’ve got back into serious fitness; the wedding is the kick-start I needed. My friends have started commenting on how energised I am and asking what I’m doing differently. One of my friends told me last week that she’s really inspired by my determination and it’s pushed her to start a fitness plan which makes me feel happy and encourages me to keep going as well.

Only 89 sleeps to go until we jump into that Indian Ocean!’
