The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) is working to eliminate drowning in the Commonwealth and Swim Generation is supporting this lifesaving work.
RLSS have active members and partners covering 27 Commonwealth countries developing community-based drowning prevention strategies and lifesaving education programmes to help tackle the issue of drowning in their regions.
Swim Generation has provided funding to RLSS enabling their partners to apply for small grants to support the delivery of their water safety and drowning prevention initiatives.
Three grants have been awarded to date enabling…
Lifesaving South Africa
Five members of The Royal Lifesaving Society Lesotho to be trained for the Lifesaving South Africa (ILS accredited) Pool Lifeguard Award
Baby CPR Training – RLSS Malta
A grant was awarded to enable RLSS Malta to purchase a baby manikin, which is to be used to help promote lifesaving baby CPR skills. Previously using an ordinary doll, which did not have any of the features of the baby manikin, this has enabled RLSS Malta to teach CPR and ‘treatment for choking’ effectively, reaching over 90 people already.
Royal Lesotho Life Saving Association
The small grant awarded to Royal Lesotho Life Saving Association has enabled a total of 68 young people to be trained in safe water rescue between October 2016 and March 2017.
