Speedo Sponsors Artic Expedition

The symbolic expedition is estimated to take about two weeks, during which he will keep blog and be accompanied by a film crew. He wants to alert people to the fact that the Arctic ice is melting faster than predicted by scientific models. He also wants to send a message of peace by placing 192 flags from every nation onto the North Pole to highlight that the territory is internationally neutral and that climate change is therefore a responsibility shared by all 6.6 billion people of the world.
Pugh’s achievements include being the only swimmer to have completed long distance swims in every ocean in the world, and pioneering more swims around famous landmarks than any other swimmer in history.
Swimming in his Speedos in all corners of the globe has given Pugh a unique first hand insight into climate change. He has witnessed retreating glaciers, severe droughts, coral bleaching, and the migration of animals to colder climates. When he is not exploring the water, Pugh spends much of his time delivering motivational speeches and lobbying world leaders about environmental issues.
