The Clock drill teaches you to hold a streamline position at the end of the front crawl stroke, promoting the importance of body rotation to help improve your distance per stroke.

The Clock drill teaches you to hold a streamline position at the end of the front crawl stroke, promoting the importance of body rotation to help improve your distance per stroke.


Using fins, swim on your side with your lead arm outstretched, shoulder close to your cheek.


Elevate your trailing arm out of the water to a 12 o’clock position (pointing to the ceiling) and hold.


Count to 10 seconds and then swap arms.


If you find this difficult, use a float on the lead arm to add more stability.
