Born in California and raised in Colorado, Missy Franklin began swimming at the age of five, as her mother wanted her daughter to learn early. In 2015, she won the 2015 NCAA Swimmer of the Year award, and understandably so; during the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, she became the most decorated female of all time at world championships with a total of 11 Gold Medals, 2 Silvers, and 2 Bronze. To this date she also holds 5 Olympic gold medals and 1 Bronze, as well as the world record for 200m backstroke, and the American records in both the 100m and 200m backstroke. Outside of the pool, Missy studied psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. She has also been known to pop up in TV & film as well, with cameo roles in an episode of Pretty Little Liars, and the film, The Internship.
