As a multiple gold medallist, Olympic champion and World Record holder Florent Manaudou knows that having the right swimming kit can make all the difference. Hailing from a family of successful swimmers (impressively, Florent and his older sister, Laure, are both Olympic gold medallists), Florent won his first competitive medal aged 7, following swimming guidance from his older brother.
Fast-forward to 2012 and his performance at the London 2012 Olympic Games cemented his status as a sprint swim star, beating the race favourites to win the Olympic 50m freestyle and become the first French swimmer to do so.
Racing at the top of his game, Florent relies on the best kit to help his winning performance. So which goggles make the grade? We quizzed the world-record holder to find out.
Tell us about your favourite pair of goggles
My favourite are the Speedo Fastskin Elite Goggle, which I’ve been wearing for the last two years now. My kit supplier recommended them to me, so I tried them and immediately loved them. For me, they are the best swimming goggles on the market for competitive swimmers.
Why are they such an important part of your kit?
They’re important to me because ever since I started wearing them, I’ve felt more confident – and I swim faster!
Do you wear them to race, train, or to do both?
I always wear them when I’m competing or at competitions – I’ve been racing in them for the last two years. I prefer to wear quite simple goggles when training, usually the Speedo Swedish goggle, which I’ve worn since I was little.
